GMS Technology Class
Mousetrap Car

The 2017-18 school year is the first for the middle school technology class. The first half of the year has been great for the students at Garrett Middle School. For starters, students study careers in technology and the design process. After the first unit of study, students learn how to measure with a ruler and a dial caliper. Students also learn how to use Autodesk Inventor to create engineering drawings. Students design a calculator and a pegboard toy.  The highlight of the class is the design, building and testing of a mousetrap car. The car engine is a mousetrap, and the goal is to make the car go the farther than anybody else’s car. Students need to use the design, measurement and Inventor skills they learned earlier in the class to complete the project. Overall students are enjoying the project and the middle school technology class is off to a great start!!
